Day 1 of the Open National began at 8:05am with Pat Casey and Dick Bembenek in the saddle. The weather was mild and breezy but dry. |

Brace 1 Elhew Signature with Robert Ecker and Bob's Miller Daisy with Bob Phillips. Signature had two finds and one divided find before his handler collared him at 50. He was slow to start then covered the course. Daisy had one back, a divide find. She was very stylish and happy on the ground, but was up at 42. |

Tony Bingham with Triple L's Brute |
Brace 2 Megans Blackjack with Garry Malzone and Triple L's Brute with Tony Bingham. Triple L's Brute bid for the championship was cut short with a pesky quail that flew right over his head at 6. Blackjack back at 6 had three stylish finds at 10, 24 and 50. He showed nice style on the ground. |

Brace 3 Miss Fibber Magee with Dennis Beauford and Stoney Run's Abbey with Dennis Snyder. Miss Fibber Magee had a find at 15, an unproductive at 24 and a lapse of manners at 35 ending her bid. Stoney Run's Abbey, was putting down a great race covering the course havings finds at 6, 32. On her last find her tail was to happy and she was up. |

Brace 4 Grouseridge Remi with Garry Malzone and Cas Tiny with Robert Ecker. Remi had a nice race and finds at 27, and 46 with an unproductive at 56. Cas Tiny had a good race with finds at 10, 27, 46, and 53 |

Brace 5 Texas Honeybee with Garry Malzone and Southern Justice Lady with Donald Terrell | Brace 5 was a very short brace Honeybee was on point in a bottom and not seen until Lady passed near her and then the bird popped and both dogs went ending their bid. |

Brace 6 Sky Dancers Skyview Ace with Dennis Beauford and Bob's Miller Sue with Bob Phillips. Ace was up at 50 with no bird work. Sue had a find at 8 with some ticking and stylish find at 28. She put down a very nice ground race. |

Brace 7 Merritt's Pearl with Garry Malzone and Class Act Liz with Ted Riley. Liz had her running shoes on and was gone from breakawy. Pearl had a stylish find at 7. She was then not seen for some time and the tracker was called for. |

Brace 8 Southbound Stretch with Garry Malzone and Iron Will Thriller with Tony Bingham | |

Stretch had finds at 10, 40 and 53 were he suffered a lapse in manners ending his bid. Thriller suffered a unproductive at 28 and then backed Stretch at 40 and while Garry took his dog on, it took Tony a moment to catch up and he chose to pick him up. |
