July 27, 2013

The U. S. Complete Shooting Dog Association held its annual meeting at the Boy Scout Hunt in Carthage, NC.  First order of business was the voting member sign in and proxies counted.

The 2012 minutes were posted online at uscomplete.org shortly after the last meeting.  A motion was made and seconded that the minutes be accepted as published and all approved.

Yvonne gave a financial report which was approved by all.  Then a discussion followed on how to best help the financial situation.  Bobby Phillips made a motion that the $2.00 per dog be increased to $3.00 per dog and Ashby Morgan seconded the motion with all approving.  Then Ted Riley and Verlene Stephenson gave a report on the Futurity.  A meeting was held earlier that approved the following changes in the futurity:

  • Litter enrollments are due at 8 weeks after whelping”
  • A Late fee of an additional $40.00 will be due if enrolled late.
  • Winners of the Futurity must present DNA Certificate to receive their winners checks.

They will also designate one day of the trial to be a kids day to promote young people at the field trial.  Due to a conflict this year with the National Championship being moved they have changed their date from the third week in March to the last weekend in February.
We have had no change with the sponsors or the Top Dog Award at this time.    Yvonne reported on the website letting everyone know that all the forms should now be available on line in an easy to complete on the computer format.  As usual, any suggestions or errors should be reported to Yvonne.

Insurance will continue and be the same.  National Open Invitational was then discussed due to the lack of support last year.  After much discussion it was agreed and a motion was made by Ashby Morgan that the trial go on as planned with Jim Bush as Chairperson and a ½ upfront nonrefundable fee paid at acceptance with a field of 12 accepted by October 1st to send in the Ad.  Earl Drew seconded the motion.   All approved.
A second vote on the new puppy classic rule was required and Ted made the motion that the rule be approved as written last year and Ashby Morgan seconded and all approved.  Bobby Phillips made a motion that a minimum of 12 dogs were needed to run the Amateur Invitational, Ashby Morgan seconded the motion and all approved.

A vote was taken on clarifying the qualifications of the Amateur National Championship as follows:
This Championship will be held annually and run in a more traditional format.  Handler and dog must hold a win certificate from the AFTCA and the USCSDA in an amateur derby or shooting dog stake or an open derby or shooting dog stake in which no purse was awarded or claimed by the handler or owner of the dog and the win was so reported to the USCSDA and AFTCA.
Margaret Drew made a motion to approve the wording and Bobby Phillips seconded the motion and all approved.
New Business then was opened up.  Trial dates were reported from those present.  Reminder that we need hosts for the National Amateur Championship for the 2014-2015 season.

A nominating committee was then decided upon for the selection of officers next year’s election:

  • Dennis Beauford
  • Ted Riley
  • Art Mourino
  • Tony Bingham
  • Jerry Raynor

A warning was then given about holding a trial sanctioned by the US Complete and any other organization:
If the rules at the trial are not held to our standards and a complaint
is made the results and points for the US Complete can be denied.

Discussion then turned to the Restricted stakes.  After a short discussion Ashby Morgan made a motion that no points from these stakes be given towards any dog of the year awards.  Bobby Phillips seconded the motion all approved.

It was asked if there was any other new business.  With no new business brought forward the meeting was called to a close.

Respectfully submitted.
